Schedule Set For 2022 ASUN Baseball Tournament, EKU To Open Against North Florida

CONWAY, Ark. –
Eastern Kentucky will begin its quest for an ASUN Conference Tournament title on Tuesday against North Florida.  The two teams will face off at 11 a.m. at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida.
 
JetBlue Park is the spring training home of the Boston Red Sox. 
 
The ASUN Tournament will begin with pool play, consisting of two pools of four teams each.  Teams will play three games – one each against each team in its pool.  After pool play, the top three teams from Pool A and the top team from Pool B will advance to the single elimination semifinals on Friday.  The ASUN Championship game is scheduled for Saturday.
 
EKU, the No. 6 seed, will play in Pool B with No. 5 seed Jacksonville University, No. 7 seed North Florida and No. 8 Jacksonville State.  After opening against UNF, the Colonels will play Jacksonville State on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at JetBlue Park.  Eastern Kentucky will conclude pool play on Thursday against Jacksonville at 7 p.m. at Swanson Stadium on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University.
 
Pool A will consist of the top four seeds – Liberty, Lipscomb, Kennesaw State and Florida Gulf Coast.  The two ASUN divisional winners are seeded No. 1 and No. 2.  Seeds three through eight are based solely on NCAA RPI.
 
Eastern Kentucky is 35-19 overall and finished 20-10 in the ASUN.  EKU and Lipscomb tied for the West Division Championship and posted the best record in the conference.
 
EKU's 35 wins ties the 1999 squad for the most in a season since 1990 when the Colonels won 42.
 
Jacksonville finished 13-16 in conference play and 27-25 overall.  North Florida was 11-18 in the ASUN and 21-32 overall.  Jacksonville State compiled a 19-11 league mark and went 26-27 overall.
