ATLANTA, Ga. – The defending ASUN West Division Champion Eastern Kentucky baseball team will host Bellarmine, North Florida, Florida Gulf Coast, Lipscomb and Liberty as part of its 2023 ASUN Conference schedule.
Â
EKU's road foes for the 2023 conference season will be Kennesaw State, Jacksonville, North Alabama, Queens and Central Arkansas.
Â
Of the five opponents EKU will face at home, four made the 2022 ASUN Tournament and two of those advanced to the ASUN final four. Â
Â
Despite being picked to place eighth overall in the 2022 ASUN Preseason Poll, Eastern Kentucky finished the season 38-20, champions of the West Division and tied for the best conference record in the ASUN. It was the most wins for an EKU team since the 1990 squad won 42 games. The Colonels won all three of their games in pool play to earn a spot in the ASUN Tournament semifinals.
Â
The league schedule begins at Earle Combs Stadium March 17-19 with a three-game set against in-state rival Bellarmine. A week later, the Colonels travel to face the defending ASUN Tournament champs, Kennesaw State, on March 24-26. North Florida, who Eastern Kentucky beat 5-3 in the conference tournament, comes to Richmond March 31-April 2.Â
Â
A trip to face Jacksonville awaits Eastern Kentucky on April 6-8. EKU beat JU 5-2 in this year's tournament. The first half of the ASUN schedule concludes with three games at home against Florida Gulf Coast starting April 14.
Â
EKU will play at North Alabama on April 21-23. Lipscomb, an ASUN Tournament semifinal team this past season, will visit Richmond April 28-30. The Colonels first games against ASUN newcomer Queens are set for May 5-7 in Charlotte.Â
Â
Liberty, who advanced to the ASUN finals in 2022, comes to Earle Combs Stadium on May 12-14. The regular season concludes for the second straight season with three games at Central Arkansas, May 18-20. This past season, the Colonels secured a share of the division title by winning two of three at UCA.
Â
There are three ASUN teams the Colonels will not play during the 2023 regular season – Austin Peay, Jacksonville State and Stetson.
Â
The ASUN Conference will not be divided into divisions for the 2023 baseball season. The 2023 ASUN Tournament is set for May 23-27 at Conrad Park in Deland, Florida.
