Colonels Head to Charlotte for First-Ever Meeting with Queens

Three-Game Road Swing to Conclude Regular Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Riding a three-game winning streak, Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball (16-12, 9-6 ASUN) heads to Queens (8-18, 3-12 ASUN), who's in its inaugural season in the ASUN Conference, for the first-ever meeting between the two programs at Curry Arena.
 
Thursday's game is slated for a 7:00 p.m. ET tip. Fans can view the game live on ESPN+ or listen to 92.5 WEKY with Wes Chandler on the call.
 
EKU travels to Queens for the Royals' "Play 4 Kay" game, in conjunction with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, raising funds and awareness to support women's cancer research. Fans in attendance are encouraged to wear pink to show your support.
 
The Colonels enter Thursday's contest on a three-game win streak over Jacksonville State on the road, North Alabama and Central Arkansas to end the home stretch of the regular season. As of Wednesday, Feb. 22, EKU remains in sole possession of fifth place in the ASUN standings with three regular season games left.
 
Eastern Kentucky Notes
- EKU head coach Greg Todd sits eight wins away from 300 in his career.
- Eastern Kentucky University sits inside the top-50 in the country in; assists per game (25th), scoring offense (31st), made threes per game (37th), assist/turnover ratio (39th), free throw percentage (39th), turnover margin (40th), three point attempts (45th), and forced turnovers (49th).
- Guard Antwainette Walker remains in the national spotlight after being tabbed to both the 2023 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, through the National Basketball Hall of Fame and the WBCA, and the 2023 Dawn Staley Award, recognizing the top guards in women's college basketball. Voting for the Drysdale Award is still available through hoophallawards.com.
- With 29 points against UNA and UCA, Walker moved to seventh in program history in points in a single season at 535, passing EKU legend Peggy Gay. She needs 13 to pass Carla Coffey in sixth and four made field goals to pass Coffey in fourth in single season made field goals at 223.
- Walker leads the ASUN in double-doubles (13), made field goals (219), points (535), points per game (20.6), rebounds (246), rebounds per game (9.5), steals (61), and steals per game (2.3). Top-20 in the NCAA in made field goals (7th), points per game (15th), field goal attempts (16th), points (17th), and double-doubles (19th).
- Point guard Alice Recanati recently passed Gay and Lisa Goodin on the EKU all-time career assists list at 377, she needs 11 to pass Cheryl Jones for fourth in program history.
Ariel Kirkwood needs one block to pass 8th-place Charlotte Sizemore on the EKU career blocks list at 72.
- Graduate Danielle Rainey recorded the first triple-double in program history earlier in the season against Alice Lloyd with 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists.

All-Time vs. Queens
- Thursday's game is first meeting between EKU and Queens, the Royals are in their inaugural season as a member institution of the ASUN.
 
Scouting the Royals
- Queens is led by head coach Jen Brown, who is in her third year with the program and has a record of 15-56.
- Curry Arena holds 3,000 fans.
- At 3-12 in ASUN play, the Royals have picked up wins over North Florida on the road and upset Kennesaw State, Stetson at home.
- Queens has lost its last five games against Jacksonville State, North Alabama, Central Arkansas, and Liberty twice.
- Adia Brisker, a senior guard from Pittsburgh, leads Queens with 12.7 points per game and has scored in double-figures in 15 games, including her season high 25 points twice against Gonzaga and North Florida.
- Jordyn Weaver, a freshman forward from San Antonio, leads the Royals with 6.7 rebounds per game and has brought down 10-or-more rebounds five times this season.
