EKU Beach Volleyball Closes Strong At Missouri State

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The EKU beach volleyball team wrapped up the weekend with wins over Southwest Baptist and Missouri State to improve to 6-2 on the season. 

The Colonels have set the program record for wins in a season and are on their second three-match winning streak of the year. 

EKU proved dominant over Southwest Baptist, notching a 4-1 win over the Bearcats. Rachel Mueller and Bella Williams led the way with a 21-12, 21-9 victory at the No. 3 flight. 

The Colonels closed the tournament with their most impressive victory of the season, knocking off previously unbeaten Missouri State, 3-2. EKU won on the top three courts, highlighted by a three-set rally from Sarah Mitchell and Shannon Stone. The Colonels' No. 2 pair posted a 16-21, 21-12, 15-7 win to help EKU topple the Bears. 

Mueller and Williams moved to 6-2 on the season with a pair of wins at the No. 3 spot.

EKU returns to action next weekend at the College of Charleston Beach Classic on Mar. 11-12.
