RICHMOND, Ky. – After four years with Northern Kentucky where she started in 109 games and earned three Horizon League postseason awards, Ivy Turner, a guard from Danville, Ky., is set to join EKU for her graduate season next year.
Turner is the fourth signee out of the transfer portal for EKU head coach
Greg Todd and the Colonels this offseason. She will enter her fifth season of collegiate basketball at EKU with 1,238 points, 366 rebounds, and 320 assists.
"Ivy's style of play fits the identity of this team, her decision to join our program immediately helps us as we take steps to compete for an ASUN Championship next season," said Todd. She is a true leader on and off the court, in the classroom, and will make everyone around her better. Ivy brings a winning pedigree to our program and we are excited to get her on campus."
As a senior this past season with NKU, Turner started in 29 games for the Norse and helped the team to an appearance in the Horizon League Championship semifinals. Ivy recorded 20 games last season scoring double-figures, including a season-high 19 points against Milwaukee and Purdue Fort Wayne. She averaged a steady 12.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Her steals and high free throw percentage (.853) led the team.
During the 2021-22 season, Turner again started in 29 games for NKU and averaged a career-high 13.4 points and 3.9 assists per game. Ivy had back-to-back 20-point performances against Miami (Ohio) and Central Arkansas, where she scored a career-high 24 points going 13-of-18 from the charity stripe. She was top-3 on the team in points, field goal percentage, made threes, free throw percentage, assists, and steals. She helped NKU to a 21-8 record and another appearance in the Horizon semifinals. Turner was named Second Team All-Horizon, the third postseason honor of her career.
Her sophomore season, Turner finished the year with 11.4 points and a career-high 3.7 rebounds per game starting in all 19 of NKU's contests. In NKU's 19 game schedule due to the COVID pandemic, Turner recorded 8-or-more points against Cincinnati, Ohio State, and Louisville. Ivy scored a season-high 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting against Robert Morris and threatened a triple-double adding nine rebounds and seven assists against UofL. Despite the shortened season, Turner was named Third Team All-Horizon, the second postseason nod of her career.
As a freshman in 2019-20, Ivy started in all 32 of NKU's games with 8.8 points per game on 38 percent shooting. She recorded 16 points, six assists, and five rebounds against EKU in her collegiate debut. Turner ended her freshman campaign as a member of the Horizon All-Freshman team.
Turner attended Danville High School and departed the Admirals as the schools' all-time leading scorer with 2,505 career points and an overall record of 92-53. She averaged over 24 points per game her junior and season seasons, including three 40-point games. Turner was named the 12th Region Co-Player of the Year, All-Area Player of the Year, and Courier Journal All-State First Team honors following a senior season averaging 25.9 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting 51 percent from the field.
Turner is scheduled to report to campus over the Summer to begin camp in preparation for the 2023-24 season. EKU is coming off an 18-14 record, 12-3 inside Baptist Health Arena, and its second consecutive appearance in the ASUN Conference Championship semifinals.
