EKU's Mary Keene Marrs Wins Kentucky Stroke Play Championship

SHELBYVILLE, Ky. – Lexington native and Eastern Kentucky University women's golfer Mary Keene Marrs won the Kentucky Women's Stroke Play Championship on Tuesday at the Shelbyville Country Club.
 
Fellow EKU golf team member Claira Ramsey Eden tied for second.
 
Marrs finished with a total of 141, five shots under par.  Eden tied with Taryn Walker after an even-par total of 146.
 
Eden had a 2-shot lead over Marrs at the end of the first round on Monday.  The Richmond native opened the event with a 5-under 68, which included four birdies on the back nine.  She had just one bogey during the round.
 
Marrs fired a 3-under 70 in the opening round.
 
On Tuesday, Marrs was 1-under through the first nine holes.  She had two more birdies on the first six holes of the back nine to go 3-under for the round.  Her only bogey of the day came on the final hole.
 
Despite an eagle on the par-5 No. 16 hole in the second round, Eden finished the final 18 with a 5-over total of 78.
