Woods Named ASUN Player, Newcomer, and Freshman of the Week

Ashland Native Averaged 20.0 Points in Home Wins Over Jacksonville, North Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Eastern Kentucky University standout freshman guard Kenleigh Woods was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week, Newcomer of the Week, and Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Woods is the first ASUN player this season to sweep all three weekly honors. The awards mark her first ASUN Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week selections and her third Freshman of the Week nod during the 2025-26 campaign.

The Ashland, Kentucky, native averaged 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists while shooting 62.5 percent (15-of-24) from the field in two home wins as EKU moved to a program-best 8-0 start to conference play. Woods scored in double figures in both games and has recorded two 20-point performances in her last three games.

EKU enters the week atop the ASUN standings with an unblemished league record, holding a two-game lead over West Georgia and a three-game advantage over Florida Gulf Coast.

In Thursday's 82-62 win over Jacksonville, Woods finished with 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting to go along with five rebounds and four assists.

She followed with a career-high 23 points, seven assists, and six rebounds in Saturday's 88-54 victory over North Florida, a 34-point win that set the school record for consecutive conference victories to open league play.

Woods shot 71 percent (10-of-14) from the floor and went 3-for-4 at the free-throw line, accounting for 40 points and 45 percent of EKU's offense through scoring and assists. She graded out as the 14th-best player in NCAA women's basketball on Jan. 24, receiving a 25.3 stat rating according to WCBB Players and SkimMilkey on X. The metric "stat rating" is an adjusted version of game score, which gives a rough measure of a player's productivity for a single game.

Through four weeks of conference play, Woods ranks first in the ASUN in total assists (32) and assists per game (4.0), second in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.2), and third in field-goal percentage (48.8).

On the season, Woods leads the ASUN and ranks 29th nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.25).

Woods and the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels return to action Thursday, Jan. 29, opening a three-game road swing at West Georgia. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
