Emma Closurdo Named UAC Player Of The Week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Eastern Kentucky University's Emma Closurdo was named the United Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
 
An EKU player has earned five of the six player of the week awards this season.  Emilee Hill earned four of the honors.
 
The Colonels are 14-2 overall and 4-0 in the UAC.  Eastern will host Austin Peay on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and North Alabama on Saturday at 11 a.m.
 
Closurdo averaged 5.17 kills, 1.17 blocks and 1.00 digs while hitting .446 in two 3-0 sweeps against Tarleton State and Texas-Arlington.  She had 31 kills and only six errors in 56 total attempts across six sets.
 
The right side from Crestwood, Kentucky had a match-high 16 kills, a .583 attack percentage and five digs in the win over previously unbeaten Tarleton State.  She had a match-high 15 kills, a .344 attack percentage, seven blocks and one dig in against UT-Arlington.
 
This week's match against Austin Peay will be Sip & Serve Night.  A special $10 ticket package includes admission to the match, an EKU wine glass and one complimentary mocktail.  The annual Dig Pink match is on Saturday.  The Colonels will wear pink in support of the fight against breast cancer.  There will be a pink EKU cap giveaway as well.
