RICHMOND, Ky. – Sophomore Aaron Landis drilled an RBI walk-off single with one-out in the ninth to lift the Eastern Kentucky baseball team to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Georgetown College today at Turkey Hughes Field. Eastern improves to 10-8 with the win while the Tigers fall to 14-10 with the loss.
Junior Shawn Flora walked to lead off the eighth and Eastern trailing 2-1. Flora moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from senior Sean Ryan, and then came home on a two-out RBI single from freshman Matt Davis.
Junior Michael Mulholland, who picked up the victory, struck out the side in the top of the ninth to give the Colonels a chance in bottom of the inning. Senior Brett Bolger grounded a single through the right side to lead off the inning, moved to second on a wild pitch and then moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from freshman Aaron Barrows.
Tigers pitcher Anthony Williams then intentionally walked junior Charlie Yarbrough to bring up Landis. Eastern took an early 1-0 lead in the third on Ryan RBI single, driving in Barrows who singled to leadoff the inning and extend his hit-streak to nine.
The score stayed 1-0 until the eighth when the Tigers took the lead on RBI singles from Eric Severson and Jake Mahan.
