Baseball Completes Sweep Of UT Martin With 11-3 Victory

MARTIN, Tenn. - Junior Charlie Yarbrough went 3-for-5 including a three-run home run as the Eastern Kentucky baseball team finished off a three-game sweep of UT Martin with an 11-3 victory Sunday at Skyhawk Field. The Colonels improve to 16-12 overall and 6-2 in the OVC while Martin fell to 10-20 and 4-5.

EKU jumped to a 1-0 lead after two batters as junior Shawn Flora led off with a single, stole second and then came around to score on an RBI single from senior Brett Bolger.

The Colonels added a run in the third on a Flora RBI double and tacked on two runs in the fifth inning on a Bolger RBI groundout and a Yarbrough RBI single.

Eastern broke it open with three in the sixth, highlighted by a Tyler Nix two-run home run.

The Skyhawks picked up its first run in the sixth. Chris Rezabek opened the inning with a double and Blake Turner drove in Rezabek with a single.

The Skyhawks finished the game with 10 hits. However, they stranded 11 base runners.

Freshman Eric Hash picked up the win for EKU. He allowed no runs in five innings, giving up two hits and striking out three.

Ryan Rockholt suffered the loss for the Skyhawks. He pitched five innings and gave up nine hits and five runs. He struck out one and walked one.

The Colonels return to action on Wednesday, April 12, hosting Miami (Ohio) at 2 p.m.
