RICHMOND, Ky. – The Georgetown College Tigers scored seven unearned runs in the fifth inning on its way to an 8-2 victory over the Eastern Kentucky baseball team on Tuesday afternoon at Turkey Hughes Field. The Colonels return to action Wednesday against Berea College. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. The Colonels fall to 5-4 with the loss.

Jason Frilling reached on a Colonel error to begin the fifth and moved to second one out later after Colin Wilkerson walked. Chase Armstrong then came up and grounded it to third baseman Frank Krailler who threw wide trying to get the force at second, allowing Frilling to come around and score. Eric Severson then walked to load the bases bringing up Bryan Bonner who singled to center to make it 3-0.

Chase Aitkin made it 6-0 one batter later, lining a two-run double to right-center field. EKU starter Chris Grider got the next hitter to line out to second, but then threw away a Frilling bunt which allowed two more Georgetown runs to score.

The Tigers had taken a 1-0 lead on Severson two-out RBI single in the third, chasing home Armstrong who had reached on a double. Severson led Georgetown offensively, going 3-for-4.

Eastern got its only runs of the game in the seventh on RBI singles from sophomore Matt Davis and junior Clint Seymour. Grider was the hard-luck loser for the Colonels allowed eight runs, only one of which was earned, in 4.2 innings. Sophomores David Owens and Alex Napier combined to hold Georgetown scoreless over the final 4.1 innings.

Nick Roberts picked up the victory for Georgetown, allowing two runs on four hits in 5.0 innings of work.
