MARTIN, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky will play the third of four straight road games on Thursday when the Lady Colonels face Tennessee-Martin at 6:30 p.m. (ET), at the Elam Center. EKU (12-10, 7-8 OVC) will look to rebound from a loss at Samford on Saturday. The Skyhawks (5-22, 2-15 OVC) have lost 10 of their last 11 games.

EKU beat UT Martin 64-54 in Richmond earlier this season to take a 26-10 lead in the series. The Lady Colonels have won three straight and six of the last seven in the series. Tennessee-Martin has failed to score more than 58 points in each of the last five meetings.
In that earlier meeting, senior Crystal Jones scored a game-high 19 points and Eastern Kentucky never trailed while beating Tennessee-Martin on Dec. 19. The Lady Colonels jumped out to a quick start and led 13-2 less than three minutes into the game. The Skyhawks used a 9-0 run at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half to draw within four but never came any closer.
Phyllisha Mitchell led Tennessee-Martin with 18 points and a game-high 18 rebounds.
Jones made seven of 12 shots, including three of four from three-point territory, and added seven rebounds and three assists to her totals. Freshman Lindsey Waters also finished with seven rebounds.
The Lady Colonels used unselfish play to key a quick start. All five starters scored in the first two and a half minutes and a three-pointer by Ashley Cazee with 17:02 to go in the first half put Eastern in front 13-2.
Against Samford on Saturday, two days after making 17 three pointers and shooting 65 percent from beyond the arc, Eastern Kentucky made just three treys and shot 15.8 percent from deep in a 71-48 loss. The Lady Colonels shot only 31.7 percent from the field. The Bulldogs shot 51 percent and won for the seventh straight time.
Shavonne Jones led EKU with 12 points. Crystal Jones added 11 points, seven rebounds, six steals and four assists.
Eastern Kentucky scored the first four points of the second half to get within 13 points, 40-27. A jumper by Cazee with 15:29 left in the game made it a 12-point deficit, 47-35, but the Lady Colonels wouldn’t get any closer. The Bulldogs maintained a 20-plus point lead for the final 7:47 of the game.
Tennessee-Martin’s two league wins this season have come at Eastern Illinois and at home against Tennessee State.
On Saturday, Tennessee-Martin fell to OVC-leader Southeast Missouri, 53-43. UTM out-shot SEMO, 40.5 to 36.8 percent, but went just 3-of-13 from behind the arc and turned the ball over 23 times.
Phyllisha Mitchell led the Skyhawks with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. Crystal Fuller finished with 10 points. Both players had a game-high seven rebounds.
Fuller leads the team with an average of 16.6 points per game. She has made 53 percent of her shots from the field and averages 8.2 rebounds per game. Mitchell nearly averages a double-double. She scores 11.4 points per game and averages 9.2 boards per contest.
As a team, UTM averages 54.4 points per game and has only made 29.7 percent of its three-point attempts this season.
