RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women’s tennis team rebounded from its first loss of the season yesterday to defeat visiting Chattanooga, 6-1, Sunday morning in the Greg Adams Tennis Center. With the win, the Colonels improve to 3-1.

Eastern opened the match by winning two of the three doubles contests. Senior Meredith Giles (No. 2) and junior Alexandra Sitnikova (No. 3) then won their respective singles matches in straight sets to put the Colonels ahead, 3-1. Freshman Vera Heimeroth (No. 4) clinched the team win with a come-from-behind three-set triumph.

“This is a great sign for our women that we won convincingly today over quality opponent in Chattanooga,” head coach Rob Oertel said.
