Junior Svetlana Pimenova
RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women’s tennis team kept its perfect OVC record intact with a 6-1 victory over visiting Eastern Illinois Friday in the Greg Adams Tennis Center. With the win, the Colonels move to 12-5 overall and 4-0 in conference play while the Panthers fall to 9-4 and 2-2.

Eastern Kentucky opened the match by taking two of the three doubles matches for the doubles point. Juniors Svetlana Pimenova and Alexandra Sitnikova teamed up for an 8-0 decision at the No. 1 position.

In singles, the Colonels won five of the six contests in straight sets. Freshman Myriem Mhirit (No. 5) tallied her fourth straight win with a 7-5, 6-2 decision over Eastern Illinois’ Cara Huck. Meanwhile, in the closest match of the day, Pimenova outlasted EIU’s Sandra Sasidharan at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 7-6 (5).
