RICHMOND, Ky. – After two consecutive losses on the road last weekend, the Eastern Kentucky University women’s soccer team will look to regroup on Friday with its first home match since August. The Colonels (2-3-1) will take on the Golden Flashes of Kent State (2-4) at EKU Soccer Field at 5:00 p.m.
The Colonel defense has been impressive since the season began. Led by junior defenders
Jessica Goshert and
Eva Hollenberg, EKU’s backline has only allowed five goals through six games this year. Sophomore keeper
Stephanie Lynch has also contributed to that low number, starting every game in goal so for the Colonels and making 39 saves.
Offensively, the Colonels are led this year by a host of players. Senior forward
Kayla Swearingen, freshman midfielder
Heather Bruce, junior midfielder
Lauren Imsande and senior midfielder
Laura Caldon have all scored goals on the season, while sophomore forward
Alex Hartwick and freshman midfielder
Jessica Reed lead the Colonels with one assist each.
After this Friday’s game, the Colonels return to action on Sunday at Radford. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
