EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Eastern Kentucky’s women’s basketball team will get its first look at future Ohio Valley Conference opponent Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on Monday. Tip-off at the Vadalabene Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. The Lady Colonels (6-10) suffered their second straight loss on Saturday at Southeast Missouri. The Cougars (2-16) snapped a 16-game losing streak on Wednesday.
In the summer of 2008, the OVC announced the addition of SIU Edwardsville to the league. SIUE is transitioning from Division II to Division I. All SIU Edwardsville’s teams will begin regular season competition in the conference in 2011-12 and will be eligible for postseason competition in 2012-13.
On Saturday at SEMO, Eastern Kentucky cut an eight-point deficit to a single point three and a half minutes into the second half, but the Redhawks responded with an 8-0 run and defeated the Lady Colonels 71-54 in Cape Girardeau. Sophomore

Southern Illinois Edwardsville has faced four Ohio Valley Conference teams this season. The Cougars lost all four games on the road, falling to Morehead State (77-63), UT Martin (73-70), Eastern Illinois (76-58) and Austin Peay (74-52).
SIUE snapped its 16-game losing streak with a home court 63-38 win over Robert Morris on Wednesday.
As a team SIUE shoots 34.4 percent from the field, but only 26.6 percent from three-point range. The Cougars are being out-rebounded by an average of 10.9 boards per game. However, SIU Edwardsville has a +4.1 turnover margin. The Cougars force opponents to commit an average of 24.4 turnovers per contest.
Senior forward Jenny Wuest (5-foot-11) leads the team in scoring (12.7 ppg) and is second with an average of 6.2 rebounds per game. Fellow senior forward Jessie Stapleton (5-foot-9) is the Cougars’ leading rebounder at 7.8 boards per game. She averages 8.8 points per contest.
Stapleton led SIUE with a double-double against Robert Morris, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
