RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky’s women’s basketball team will try to put a halt to a pair of losing streaks on Saturday when Southeast Missouri State visits McBrayer Arena. The Lady Colonels (8-8, 5-2 OVC) have lost two straight games overall and have lost eight straight to Southeast Missouri.
The game, presented by Free Enterprise System, is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. EKU will celebrate Kids’ Day on Saturday. All kids 12 and under will receive free admission to the game. The game will air live in the Richmond area on WEKY 1340 AM, and can be heard worldwide on EKUSports.com.
This is the 38th meeting between Eastern Kentucky and Southeast Missouri. EKU leads the all-time series 25-12, but SEMO has won eight straight between the two teams. EKU hasn’t beaten Southeast since edging the Redhawks in the finals of the 2005 OVC tournament in double overtime.
Eastern Kentucky lost its second straight game on Thursday, falling 60-50 loss to Eastern Illinois. Freshman
Alex Jones recorded her fifth double-double of the season, finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Cherie White contributed nine points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Southeast Missouri (5-10, 2-4 OVC) enters Saturday’s game having lost two starters and two straight games. The Redhawks’ leading scorer, freshman Jasmine Davis (10.0 ppg) is out for the rest of the season. Junior forward Lauren Sharpe (7.2 ppg) has missed the past two games due to an injury.
In its last two games, SEMO has managed just 39 points against Eastern Illinois and 37 at Morehead State. The Redhawks are 0-8 this season on the road, including 0-4 in OVC road games.
Freshman forward Bailie Roberts is now the team’s top scorer at 8.4 points per game. Senior center Leslie Adams leads the team in rebounding at 6.6 rebounds per game.
Roberts scored just five points against Morehead State on Thursday. Monica Miller led the team with eight points off the bench. Adams grabbed 10 rebounds, but scored just one point.
As a team, Southeast averages 54.3 points per game and allows 67.6 per contest. The Redhawks are being out-rebounded by 3.9 boards per game and are committing 2.5 more turnovers per game than their opponents. The SEMO defense has allowed foes to shoot 41 percent from the field and 31.1 percent from the three-point line.
