RICHMOND, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University women’s soccer team will wrap up its regular season schedule on Wednesday when the Colonels host the Longwood Lancers at EKU Soccer Field at 3:00 p.m. EKU will play Eastern Illinois in the OVC Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 4, at 5:00 p.m.

EKU (7-8-2) is 5-2-1 at home this season, despite losing to in-state rival Morehead State, 2-1, in double overtime on Sunday at EKU Soccer Field. The Colonels have won their last two non-conference games (over Presbyterian and Detroit Mercy) and have not lost a non-conference game since Sept. 3 against Wright State.

Freshman Nicole Donnelly enters the regular season finale as the Colonels’ top goal scorer. The Cincinnati native has scored six goals on the year, four of which have come during conference play and three of which have been game-winners. Senior Carly Muller, meanwhile, has scored four goals on the year, including one on Sunday against a Morehead State defense that had only allowed one goal in its previous seven OVC games.

The EKU defense, led by durable junior center back Stephanie Murray, has been solid this season but will face a Longwood attack on Wednesday that has scored 35 goals on the season. Sophomore striker Lindsey Ottavio has scored 16 of those goals by herself.

Longwood enters this weekend with a record of 10-7. The Lancers are 8-1 at home this season by just 2-6 on the road.

This is the first ever meeting between the two programs.

Following Wednesday’s game, the Colonels will have just over a week to prepare for their first round OVC Tournament matchup against Eastern Illinois.

The OVC Tournament will take place Nov. 4-5 and 7 at Morehead State’s Jayne Stadium. The entire tournament can be viewed for free at ovcsports.tv.
