RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky will host West Virginia State on Tuesday at McBrayer Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Fans can receive free admission to the game by bringing a new toy for donation to the Colonel Holiday Toy Drive.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Eastern Kentucky and West Virginia State (2-6, 1-3 WVIAC).
The Lady Colonels (3-4, 1-1 OVC) had their two-game winning streak snapped on Saturday. A 13-0 run to start the second half by Tennessee-Martin was too much for Eastern to overcome in a 61-46 loss at home. Of EKU’s 57 attempts from the field, 29 were from three-point range. The Lady Colonels made only seven three-pointers and were out-scored in the paint 18-4.
Brittany Coles led Eastern Kentucky with 13 points off the bench.
Alex Jones had 11 rebounds and six points. EKU had a season-low 10 turnovers.
Reese Bass, who earned her third OVC Newcomer of the Week award on Monday, is second in the OVC with an average of 4.4 assists per game. She leads the OVC with a 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio. Jones is sixth in the OVC in scoring, second in steals and second in rebounding. Coles leads the conference in blocks.
Marie Carpenter is second in free throw percentage.
West Virginia has lost three straight. WVSU averages 62 points per game and has given up an average of 68 per game. The Yellow Jackets have shot 39 percent from the field and 34 percent from three-point range while their opponents have made 42 percent from the field and 37 percent from behind the arc.
West Virginia State is averaging 24 turnovers per game. The Yellow Jackets average 4.3 blocks per game, but are getting blocked an average of 6.6 per game by their opponents.
WVSU is led in scoring by Melissa Ford’s 18.6 points per game. The 5-foot-10 guard/forward scored 20-plus points in back-to-back games before missing three straight games. She has played in each of the last two contests. She has made 61 percent of her shots from the field and also averages 5.6 rebounds per game. In the second game of the season Ford scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a win over Virginia Union.
Chelsey Davis, a 5-foot-11 forward, is the team’s second leading scorer (12.1 ppg) and top rebounder (10.6 rpg). She has recorded 10 or more rebounds in six of the team’s eight games. She scored 20 and grabbed 12 boards in the season opener. She posted her third double-double of the season two games ago with 16 points and 12 rebounds against Wheeling Jesuit
