Women's Tennis Remains Perfect in OVC

Junior Anouk Faure
RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women’s tennis team won four of the six singles matches in straight sets on the way to a 6-1 victory over visiting Southeast Missouri Friday afternoon. With the victory, the Colonels move to 8-11 overall and 3-0 in OVC action.

Senior Anais Hamel (No. 4) and freshman Esmira Gheisary (No. 6) each won their matches without dropping a single game. Junior Anouk Faure (No. 2) clinched the team victory with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Southeast Missouri’s Alyce Kelly.

“I was happy to see some of the things we worked on in practice applied in our match today,” EKU head coach Rob Oertel said. “We still have a couple of big matches coming up for us.”

This was the first of four matches in five days for Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels are back in action tomorrow against Eastern Illinois at 11 a.m.
