RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky’s women’s basketball team will return to Ohio Valley Conference action on Thursday when Jacksonville State visits McBrayer Arena. The game, presented by the Richmond Register, is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m.

Thursday’s game will be the 18th meeting between the two programs. EKU holds a 13-4 lead in the series. The Lady Colonels won 12 of the first 14 meetings, but the Gamecocks have won two of the last three. Eastern is 7-1 against JSU in Richmond.
In its last game, Eastern Kentucky (4-8, 1-3 OVC) fell to Western Michigan, 66-58, on New Year’s Eve at McBrayer Arena. Sophomore
Brittany Coles led the Lady Colonels with a career-best 25 points. Sophomore
Alex Jones recorded her 11th career double-double, finishing with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Eastern Kentucky shot just 27 percent from the field, including 22 percent from three-point range. WMU made 43 percent of its shots.
Jacksonville State enters Thursday’s game 4-10 overall and 1-2 in Ohio Valley Conference play. The Gamecocks have lost two straight. JSU opened league play by splitting a pair of home games. The Gamecocks knocked off Southeast Missouri 62-48 before losing to Eastern Illinois 75-69.
Junior guard Brittany Wiley leads the team in scoring at 13.7 points per game. She is the only Gamecock averaging more than 8.1 points per contest. Sophomore Danielle Vaughn, a 6-foot forward, is the team’s top rebounder at 6.6 boards per game. Nine Gamecocks average 10 or more minutes per game.
As a team, Jacksonville State scores 59 points per game and allows 67 points. The Gamecocks have shot 36 percent from the field and 27 percent from three-point range. Their opponents have hit on 45 percent of their shots and 35 percent from behind the arc.
In their most recent game, JSU lost 81-52 at Georgia Tech. Wiley led the team with 19 points. Junior forward Brittany Banning finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
