RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University’s women’s basketball will be looking to put together its first winning streak of the season when future Ohio Valley Conference foe Belmont University visits McBrayer Arena on Tuesday.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WEKY 1340 AM, and can be heard worldwide on EKUSports.com. A live video broadcast of the contest is available on OVCSports.TV.
Belmont is playing its final season in the Atlantic Sun Conference before moving to the OVC for 2011-12.
The Lady Colonels are 3-5 this season, but have yet to win consecutive games.
EKU and Belmont will be meeting for the eighth time. Belmont holds a 6-1 record in the series. The two teams last met on Nov. 28, 2006 in Nashville. The Bruins won 68-61. The first meeting between the two programs came on Feb. 22, 1975.
On Saturday, three post players combined for 47 points and 30 rebounds in Eastern’s 67-56 victory over Chicago State in the consolation game of the Aces Winter Classic hosted by Evansville. Forwards

along with center Jade Barber# helped EKU out-rebound the Cougars by 17 and out-score CSU 34-16 in the paint.
Jones led the Lady Colonels with 20 points and 11 rebounds, her 18th career double-double. Barber contributed 14 points and 11 boards, her third double-double in the last five games. It marked the first time two players recorded a double-double in the same game for Eastern since March 2005. Allen, a junior college transfer, made her first start as a Lady Colonel. She finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
Belmont enters Tuesday’s game with a 2-7 record and a 1-1 mark in the Atlantic Sun Conference. After starting the season with five straight losses, the Bruins are 2-2 in their last four. Belmont has been held under 60 points in seven of its nine games and has scored less than 50 three times. The last two games have been conference contests for Belmont. The Bruins beat Kennesaw State 57-55 before losing to Mercer 64-61.
As a team, Belmont averages 53 points per game while allowing 67 per contest. The Bruins have been out-scored at the free throw line by 51 points and are being out-rebounded by seven boards per game.
Senior Haley Nelson, a 6-foot-2 center, is the team’s leading scorer (12.9 ppg) and leading rebounder (6.9 rpg). She has made 52 percent of her shots from the field and has three double-doubles this season. No other Bruin is scoring more than 7.1 points per game.
