JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Eastern Kentucky’s women’s basketball team will try to end its two-game road trip on a positive note when the Lady Colonels play Jacksonville State on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.

Saturday’s game will be the 19th meeting between the two programs. EKU holds a 13-5 lead in the series. The Lady Colonels won 12 of the first 14 meetings, but the Gamecocks have won three of the last four. Eastern is 5-3 against JSU in Jacksonville.
In its last game, Eastern Kentucky (6-15, 3-9 OVC) lost the rebounding battle by 16 and lost the game against Tennessee Tech 56-49 on Thursday. The Golden Eagles took 19 rebounds off the offensive glass and scored 12 second chance points. Shakeyia Colyer and Brittany Coles led the Lady Colonels with 12 points each.
EKU sophomore Alex Jones is ninth in the OVC in scoring (14.0 ppg) and second in rebounding (9.2 rpg). Reese Bass leads the OVC with a 1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio and is third with 4.3 assists per game. Coles leads the OVC in three-point shooting (42.2 percent) and is second with 1.2 blocks per game.
Jacksonville State is 8-15 overall and 5-7 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Since sweeping its road trip to EKU and Morehead State in January, JSU is just 2-5. The Gamecocks have lost three straight home games and are 1-5 at home against OVC teams this season.
Allie Turner’s lay-up with seven tenths of a second left in the game lifted Morehead State past Jacksonville State, 65-64, on Thursday.
Danielle Vaughn scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for JSU. Dainielle Beneby also recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The Gamecocks shot 47 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Eagles by 12. However, Jacksonville State turned the ball over 19 times and MSU scored 15 points off those turnovers.
Brittany Wiley leads the team this season in scoring (14.8 ppg). Vaughn is averaging 8.7 points and 7.1 rebounds while shooting 61 percent from the field. Beneby averages 8.5 points and 5.3 rebounds.
Jacksonville State opponents have shot 43 percent from the field this season.
