TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – After two consecutive 4-3 defeats, the Eastern Kentucky University women’s tennis team returned to the win column Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 decision over Eastern Illinois. With the win, the Colonels improve to 9-9 overall and 2-2 in the OVC.
EKU swept all six singles matches in straight sets. Sophomore
Jessica Albuquerque (No. 1) tallied her third straight league win at the top spot. Meanwhile, senior
Anouk Faure (No. 3) has won five of her last six matches.
“It’s been a big boost to have Anouk play this well and move up in the line-up,” EKU head coach
Rob Oertel said. “I was also glad to see our new doubles teams respond in a very positive way.”
The match was moved indoors to Wabash Valley Tennis Club in Terre Haute, Ind., due to inclement weather at Eastern Illinois.
The Colonels conclude their home schedule next weekend against SIU Edwardsville (April 1) and Jacksonville State (April 2).
