RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women’s tennis team downed OVC foe Murray State Friday by a count of 5-2. With the win, the Colonels (15-6, 8-0 OVC) clinched the top seed for the upcoming OVC championships.

“I thought we played our best doubles match of the year,” Eastern head coach Rob Oertel said. “Doubles has been the hardest point for us all year and we were able to win three very competitive matches. That gave us a ton of momentum heading into singles.”

After taking the doubles point, the Colonels won four of the six singles matches easily in straight sets. Freshman Amandine Faouzi highlighted the day with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles.

Eastern Kentucky concludes the regular season tomorrow, April 14 with a home match against Austin Peay. Match time is set for 10 a.m.
