Live Stats: Dayton I Marshall

RICHMOND, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team has altered its midweek schedule, as the Colonels will now host Marshall on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. EKU was originally scheduled to travel to Marshall on Wednesday. EKU will also play a midweek contest at Dayton on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.

EKU (24-20, 14-7 OVC) took two-of-three games at UT Martin over the weekend to remain a half-game out first place in the OVC standings. Senior Richie Rodriguez became the first EKU player under head coach Jason Stein to hit for the cycle on Saturday and was, consequently, named the OVC Player of the Week on Monday.

EKU, which leads the country with 59 home runs, has scored 34 runs, hit .430 and slugged .727 in its last three non-conference games, all of them wins.

Dayton (22-26, 11-7 Atlantic 10) has dropped three of its last four games, including two-of-three at Temple over the weekend. Dayton is led offensively by Bobby Glenn, who is carrying a .353 batting average, and C.J. Gillman, who has posted a team-best 51 RBI this season.

Freshman left-hander Nick Bozman (1-0, 3.68 ERA) will start for EKU on Tuesday and will square off against Dayton right-hander Denton Sagerman (1-1, 7.20 ERA).

EKU leads the all-time series with Dayton 11-3-1. The Colonels defeated the Flyers, 10-5, last year at Turkey Hughes Field. Rodriguez collected four hits while fellow senior Dustin Dunlop scorched a pair of triples in the win.

Marshall (15-31, 3-15 Conference USA) has lost four straight and was swept at East Carolina last weekend. Nathan Gomez paces the Thundering Herd offense with a .316 batting average and 33 RBI.

The probable pitchers for Wednesday’s game have not yet been determined.

EKU is 32-20 all-time against Marshall, and the Colonels have already defeated the Thundering Herd twice this season.

Following their midweek affairs, the Colonels return to action this weekend with a pivotal three-game set against OVC foe Tennessee Tech at Turkey Hughes Field.
