FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. – Sophomore
Kristina Labeja was the only Eastern Kentucky University women’s tennis player to pick up a win Tuesday in a 4-1 loss to Troy.
Troy (11-4) opened the match by taking the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches for the doubles point. The Trojans then easily won the No. 4 and No. 3 singles matches to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
Labeja got the Colonels (7-5) on the board, but sophomore
Amandine Faouzi came up short at No. 1 singles in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.
“This was probably our most disappointing match of the season,” EKU head coach
Rob Oertel said. “Hopefully, we can respond this weekend in OVC play.”
Eastern Kentucky, the preseason OVC favorite, opens conference action this Saturday, March 16 at Austin Peay.
