RICHMOND, Ky. – In a battle of undefeated OVC teams, the Eastern Kentucky University women’s tennis team came out on top of Jacksonville State Friday by a count of 7-0.

Eastern (12-5, 5-0 OVC) is now just one of two teams left in the conference with a perfect OVC record.

“We are focused on getting a top-two seed for the conference tournament,” EKU head coach Rob Oertel said. “Our players just won’t be denied right now. We’ve got a mature, smart group of players who are very competitive and eager to defend last year’s title.”

The Colonels won all six singles matches in straight sets. Sophomore Kristina Labeja (No. 2) has now won seven consecutive matches while sophomore Marcela Jimenez (No. 5) is right behind with six straight wins.
