RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky snapped an 8-game losing streak with a 10-3 win over Marshall on Wednesday at Turkey Hughes Field.

The Colonels (6-19) got on the board in the bottom of the second.  With the bases loaded and two outs, Doug Teegarden hit a grounder to first base, but Nathan Gomez dropped the ball and two runs came home on the error.

Eastern added five more in the fourth.  With two outs and the bases loaded, Kenny Hostrander singled to left center.  Two runs scored on the hit and another came home on a Marshall throwing error.  One of the three base runners reached on a walk and two were hit by pitches.  After another walk, Teegarden made it 7-0 with a two-run double to right field.

Eastern capped its scoring in the bottom of the seventh.  Shaun Ball drove in a run with a single to right field.  Bryan Soloman’s sacrifice fly scored Teegarden from third.  A throwing error let one more runner come home for a 10-0 lead.

Marshall scratched across a run in the eighth.  Isaac Ballou singled with one out and then advanced to second on a throwing error on the same play.  He then moved to third on a passed ball and scored with two outs on another passed ball.  The Thundering Herd scored twice more in the ninth on a two-run double by Johnathan Beary.

Six different Colonels recorded one hit each.  Hostrander finished 1-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs.  Teegarden went 1-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.  Sean Hagen went 0-for-2 but walked three times and scored twice.

Freshman Eric Nerl (1-1) started and earned the win.  He gave up three hits and struck out two in three innings of work.  Nick Bozman picked up his first save after tossing the final three innings.  He allowed two earned runs on three hits.  Bozman did not walk a batter and struck out three.

Gomez went 2-for-3 with a run for Marshall.  Beary finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Kolin Stanley (0-1) suffered the loss after giving up the first two runs in one inning of work.  He allowed two hits, walked one and struck out one.
