RICHMOND, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team will look to stay atop the Ohio Valley Conference East Division standings when it travels to face OVC East foes Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech this weekend.

EKU (13-8, 7-3 OVC) will face Jacksonville State (10-15, 6-6 OVC) on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. ET and Tennessee Tech (9-15, 6-5 OVC) on Monday at 7:00 p.m. ET.

The Lady Colonels currently hold a slim lead over Belmont (8-4 OVC) and Tennessee State (7-4 OVC) in the race for the OVC East title.

Senior Marie Carpenter led EKU to a 69-66 overtime win against in-state rival Morehead State last Saturday at McBrayer Arena. Carpenter poured in 23 points and knocked down two critical three-pointers late in the game to give the Lady Colonels their fifth consecutive win over the Eagles and their first overtime win since last year's season opener versus Miami (Ohio).

Carpenter currently ranks 16th in the country at 21.9 points-per-game.

Sophomore Miranda Maples contributed 14 points in the win, while freshman Michaela Hunter came off the bench to finish with 11 points and eight boards.

EKU defeated Jacksonville State, 68-61, on Jan. 18 at McBrayer Arena; however, the Gamecocks have won four of their last five games entering this weekend.

Candace Morton paces the JSU offense 17.4 points-per-game while Destany McLin contributes 14.0 points-per-game.

EKU leads the all-time series with JSU, 17-6, and the Lady Colonels have won four consecutive games over the Gamecocks.

Tennessee Tech has lost two of its last three games entering the weekend. The Golden Eagles will host Morehead State on Saturday afternoon.

Diamond Henderson leads the way for TTU with 18.9 points-per-game.

Tennessee Tech has dominated the all-time series with EKU, 62-22. The Lady Colonels have not won in Cookeville since Jan. 6, 2003.
