Senior
Bryan Soloman went 4-for-5 with his ninth home run of the season, a run scored and four RBIs in the loss.
Kyle Nowlin finished 3-for-6 with a run scored and a stolen base.
Nowlin began the game with a single through the right side and stole second base. He came home when Soloman singled to left two batters later.
The Governors took the lead in the bottom of the second on Logan Gray's two-run single to right field. However, EKU had the answer in the third. Soloman's two-out single to right scored
Luke Wurzelbacher and tied the score 2-2. The seesaw affair continued as Rolando Gautier gave the lead back to the home team in the third on a run-scoring single to left field.
With two outs and runners at second and third in the fourth,
TJ Alas singled to right center to plate two and put the visitors back in front 4-3. Soloman followed with a two-run home run over the 392 sign in straight away center field.
A solo home run by Matt Wollenzin got one back for Austin Peay in the bottom of the fourth and made it 6-4. It would have been a two-run shot, but
Sean Hagen gunned down Ridge Smith on a steal attempt to clear the bases. The Governors tied it up in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Alex Robles and an RBI single to center from Dre Gleason.
The lead swung back in favor of the Colonels on
Shea Sullivan's sacrifice fly in the sixth. Austin Peay took the lead for good when Gray's two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth put the Govs on top 8-7.
Gray went 3-for-4 with a run and four RBIs. Caye Bredlau was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Robles had one hit in three at bats, scored twice and drove in three.
Myles Scott (1-3) suffered the loss after allowing four runs on three hits in one-third of an inning. He also walked two batters. Jake Corum (2-1) earned the win. He allowed one run on two hits in one inning of work.
