RICHMOND, Ky. – Newcomer
Marina Marti won the deciding match to help the Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team pull out a 4-3 victory over Western Kentucky Friday afternoon in the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
Eastern (3-5) won the last three singles matches on the court. Senior
Amandine Faouzi started the rally with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Faouzi had lost to WKU's (2-3) Emilia Granstrom in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional tournament this past fall.
Freshman
Dominika Hadnadova evened the team score with a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles. Marti capped the comeback with her fourth singles victory of the indoor season, a 7-6, 6-3 decision over Gabby Crofford.
"Marina is one of the best competitors on the team," EKU head coach
Rob Oertel said. "I was very confident that she would be successful in that situation."
Eastern Kentucky concludes its indoor schedule next Saturday, Feb. 28 with a home match against the University of the Cumberlands. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
