MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team picked up its 10th win of the season Tuesday afternoon behind a gritty 5-2 win at rival Morehead State.
Eastern (10-7, 5-1 OVC) dropped the doubles point and also lost the first set in three of the singles matches before rallying to take the match. Seniors
Kristina Labeja (No. 2) and
Marcela Jimenez (No. 4), as well as freshman
Raquel Montalvo (No. 6), each managed to pull out a victory in three sets.
Senior
Amandine Faouzi (No. 1) and sophomore
Marina Marti (No. 3) took their respective contests in straight sets.
Morehead State (6-8, 4-2) had only lost once in OVC action before today's setback. Alex Tachovsky was perfect in league singles play and had won two straight matches until Jimenez fought back for the win at No. 4 singles.
EKU concludes its home schedule this weekend with a pair of conference battles against UT Martin (April 3) and Southeast Missouri (April 4).
