CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team finished the regular season with a 5-2 win at Eastern Illinois Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Colonels clinched a share of the OVC regular season title.
 
"Our team and especially our four seniors are very excited to be in this position for a run at a third OVC Tournament title in the last four years," EKU head coach Rob Oertel said.
 
The Colonels (14-7, 9-1 OVC) have won the conference regular season title, shared or outright, four consecutive years. EKU advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2012 and 2013, but fell to Murray State in the 2014 OVC Tournament finals.
 
Eastern Kentucky won four of the six singles matches in straight sets against the Panthers (12-6, 7-3). Senior Amandine Faouzi (No. 1) will enter the league tourney riding a six-match winning streak.
 
The Colonels will be the No. 2 seed in next weekend's OVC Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee. EKU will face either No. 3 Morehead State or No. 6 UT Martin in Saturday's semifinals.
