WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team thrived in doubles matches at the Purdue Fall Invitational over the weekend at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
The Colonels went 10-3 in double matches, and junior
Diogo Soares and freshman
Indra Patwardhan teamed up to win the Flight C Championship with a perfect 4-0 record.
"This was one of the best doubles performances our program has ever had at a fall invitational," head coach

Indra Patwardhan."
Soares and Patwardhan defeated duos from Dayton (8-3), Ball State (8-2), Purdue (9-8 (5)) and Southern Illinois (8-6) to win the Flight C title.
The other three EKU doubles teams all went 2-1 at the invitational. Senior
Alex Álvaro and sophomore
Ramon van Flymen defeated a tandem from Chicago State (8-5) and Toledo (8-6) before dropping a game to Lewis (9-7) in Flight A. Juniors
Sebastian Mueller and
Diego Asis earned wins over Chicago State (8-2) and IUPUI (8-1) in the consolation bracket of Flight B. Senior
Florian Graskamp and junior
Alberto Tintoré defeated teams from Ball State (8-4) and Dayton (8-2) to reach the semifinals of Flight C.
In singles action, three Colonels went 2-1 over the weekend. Mueller defeated Ball State's Andrew Stutz (2-6, 6-4, 10-8) and Marquette's Andre Romanello (7-5, 6-4) in the consolation bracket of Flight B. Meanwhile, Tintore picked up wins over Ball State's Tom Carney (5-7, 6-4, 6-1) and Purdue's Matt Bouggy (6-3, 6-4) and sophomore
Colin Hart defeated BSU's Patrick O'Connor (6-1, 6-4) and Lewis's Anton Levitin (6-0, 6-3) in Flight F.
The EKU men's and women's tennis teams continue fall action this weekend at the Chattanooga Fall Invitational.
