RICHMOND, Ky. – After winning its last two matches, the Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team fell, 4-3, in a tight match against Western Kentucky University on Saturday at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
 
The Hilltoppers (2-2) swept the doubles matches, gaining a 1-0 lead over the Colonels. WKU added a point, claiming the No. 3 singles match.
 
Freshman Viktorija Demcenkova notched her fifth win of the season in singles play to cut the WKU lead to one. Demcenkova downed Andreanna Christopoulou 6-3, 6-2, to pick up her fifth straight victory in singles action.
 
WKU extended its lead to 3-1 before sophomore Laura Argente trimmed the Hilltopper lead back to one. Argente's 7-5, 6-4 win at the No. 1 singles spot improved her record to 4-2 on the season.
 
Freshman Margaux Lacroix topped WKU's Beatriz Gutierrez 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 6 spot in singles.
 
"This is the best women's team I have ever seen at WKU," Head Coach Rob Oertel said. "Jonathan (Berhane) has done a great job recruiting."
 
The Colonels (3-3) host Lindsey Wilson College on Feb. 20 at the Greg Adams Tennis Center. Saturday's match is scheduled for a noon start.
