RICHMOND, Ky. – For the second consecutive day, the EKU men's tennis team tallied an Ohio Valley Conference shutout win with a 7-0 victory over Murray State University on Saturday at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
EKU (12-9) kept its momentum from Friday's OVC opener against Austin Peay State University, as the Colonels have outscored their opposition 14-0 in their previous two matches.
The Colonels set the tone early, securing the doubles' point with wins from
Sebastian Mueller and
Diego Asis at the No. 2 spot and
Alex Álvaro and
Ramon van Flymen at the No. 1 spot. Álvaro and van Flymen entered Saturday's match as the nation's 53rd ranked duo.
Diogo Soares and
Indra Patwardhan collected a 6-5 win, giving the Colonels all the momentum they would need.
EKU commanded the singles action as well, as the Colonels took the first three matches to secure the win. The Colonels kept rolling on their way to another 7-0 win.
The Colonels are back in action on Friday as they take on Belmont University. Friday's match is scheduled for 2 p.m.
