RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU women's tennis team ended a four-match losing skid to Murray State in a dominating 7-0 win on Saturday at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
EKU (7-8, 2-0 OVC) registered its second Ohio Valley Conference win in as many days after logging a 4-3 win over Austin Peay State University on Saturday.
"I was extremely proud of the way the girls bounced back from yesterday," Head Coach
Rob Oertel said. "Despite the win, they weren't happy with the way they played Friday but they responded with a big win over Murray."
Murray State (7-8) took the No. 1 doubles match but it was all EKU after that.
The Colonels rallied, affirming the doubles' point as
Viktorija Demcenkova and
Margaux Lacroix evened the match at one with their seventh doubles win of the year.
Corentine Bodin and Marina Marti followed with a 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot to secure a 1-0 lead for EKU.
EKU controlled singles play, as the Colonels rolled to six wins to move to 2-0 in league play.
"It's a great start to the OVC season," Oertel said. "Murray is a team we will probably see again."
EKU and Murray State met in the OVC Tournament last year. The Racers won, 4-2, on their way to the OVC Tournament title.
The Colonels travel to Nashville to take on Belmont University on Friday. Friday's match is scheduled for 2 p.m.
