RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky baseball team will take on Evansville in a three-game series this weekend at Turkey Hughes Field.
Thursday's game was cancelled due to rain. Game two will be played Friday at 3 p.m. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.
The Colonels (10-11, 1-5 OVC) are coming off a one-run loss to Marshall on Tuesday. The Purples Aces (9-10) lost to Kent State 6-3 on Tuesday and have lost six of their last seven games.
Kyle Nowlin led Eastern against Marshall, going 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs and an RBI. Nowlin leads the Ohio Valley Conference with nine home runs and is third in the nation.
Doug Teegarden continues to lead the nation in walks and senior
Mandy Alvarez is third in the country in hits with 37.
Game one will feature an outstanding pitching match-up.
Eric Nerl will start for Eastern Kentucky. The junior right-hander is 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA this season. Connor Strain, a senior right-hander, will get the ball for Evansville. He is 1-1 with a 1.35 ERA.
