NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The EKU women's tennis team improved its record to 3-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play with Friday's 6-1 win over Belmont University at Centennial Sportsplex.
EKU (8-8, 3-0 OVC) picked up the doubles point for the third straight match on its way to the win. After an EKU win at No. 3 doubles and a Belmont win at the No. 1 spot, freshmen
Viktorija Demcenkova and
Margaux Lacroix logged a 6-3 win to clinch the decisive doubles match. Demcenkova and Lacroix are now 2-1 in conference doubles play.
The Colonels rolled to five wins in singles, as
Laura Argente,
Corentine Bodin, Lacroix,
Marina Marti and
Raquel Montalvo all notched wins. Wins from Lacroix and Marti put the Colonels within one point of their third straight win, as Argente recorded a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at the No. 1 spot to lift the Colonels to the victory.
EKU continues OVC action on Saturday at Tennessee State. Saturday's match is scheduled for 11 a.m.
