RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU men's tennis team got back in the win column with a 5-2 win over Morehead State University at Tom Higgins Courts on Tuesday.
 
After splitting the first two doubles matches, the teams squared off in a battle for their second win and the doubles point. The Eagles outlasted the Colonels, 7-6, at the No. 1 spot to take a 1-0 lead.
 
EKU (16-11, 5-2 OVC) responded with three straight wins and never looked back. Diogo Soares' 6-1, 6-2 win evened the score at one apiece, as wins from Sebastian Mueller and Alex Álvaro gave EKU a 3-1 lead.
 
Soares' win marked his eight straight win in singles play.
 
Ramon van Flymen added a 6-4, 6-4 win to clinch the match and the fifth Ohio Valley Conference victory for EKU.
 
Guillem Sanchis added an insurance point for the Colonels, taking the No. 3 singles match 6-7, 6-4, 1-0
(10-7).
 
The Colonels return to action next weekend as they travel to Eastern Illinois University and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to close out regular season play.
