RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern is set to play host to Murray State this weekend for its final home series of the season.
Games are slated to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Senior day activities will be held before Saturday's game.
Friday and Saturday will be Trivia Night at the Ballpark and students can win Raising Canes vouchers.
EKU (23-26, 12-12 OVC) has won six of its last seven games and five of its last six OVC series. The Racers (23-26, 11-13 OVC) have lost four of their last six games.
The Colonels are coming off of a big road weekend at Jacksonville State, winning two of three to stay in the race for the conference tournament. Eastern is now tied for sixth in the conference. Murray State is one game behind. The top six teams advance to the league tournament.
In the first game of the series at JSU, Eastern pushed 19 runs across in what was a slug fest. Twelve of the runs came off of five round-trippers from three seniors.
Kyle Nowlin had one while
Kenny Hostrander and
Mandy Alvarez notched two apiece.
Alvarez went 7-for-7 during Friday's game and 10-for-15 over the series. After his stellar weekend performance, he now leads the nation in hits (88) and is third in total bases (141). The third baseman leads the conference and is eighth in the nation in batting average (.415).
Kyle Nowlin leads the conference and is second in the nation in home-runs (17).
