LEXINGTON, Ky. – The EKU women's tennis team faced a tough challenge on the road against No. 20 University of Kentucky in Tuesday's match at the Hillary J. Boone Tennis Center.
EKU's Laura Argente and Raquel Montalvo fell, 6-2, at the No. 1 doubles spot against the top-ranked duo in the country. The UK duo of senior Aldila Sutjiadi and junior Mami Adachi entered Tuesday's match ranked first in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings after claiming the indoor doubles title in November.
The Wildcats also picked up a win at No. 2 doubles to claim the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead over the Colonels.
From there, UK won each singles point on its way to the win.
The Colonels (0-2) host Western Carolina Saturday at the Greg Adams Tennis Center. Saturday's match is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start.
