RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU women's tennis team fell to defending Big East champions Xavier University, 6-1, Friday in a zealous effort at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
Newcomer
Kristina Lagoda and Marina Marti picked up a 6-2 win at the No. 3 spot in their first match together, but the Musketeers notched the doubles point.
Junior Putri Dwinta orchestrated a three-set comeback win at the No. 4 spot marking her second consecutive singles win.
"I'm proud of the way our team fought against the defending Big East champs," head coach
Rob Oertel said. "Xavier is as good or better than they were last year, so today's match was a good challenge for us."
The Colonels travel to take on Miami (Ohio) University Friday. Friday's match is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
