RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky won its fourth straight Ohio Valley Conference women's tennis match on Saturday, winning at Austin Peay, 5-2.
The duo of
Sagung Putri Dwinta and Marina Marti picked up a 7-5 win at No. 3 to secure the doubles point for the Colonels (10-9, 6-2 OVC).
EKU fell behind 2-1 when the Governors (6-10, 4-5 OVC) earned straight set victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
However, Easter swept the final four singles matches to get the win.
Margaux Lacroix beat Ana Albertson, 6-3, 2-6 and 6-3, at No. 5 singles to clinch the win.
Laura Argente and Marti also won three-set singles matches. Dwinta won her match at No. 4 in straight sets, 6-4 and 7-6.
"It was a tough battle here at Austin Peay," EKU Head Coach
Rob Oertel said. "Our girls played the big points really well today. They did very well winning the pressure points in nearly every spot. This was good training for us today and a good positive result we can reflect on."
The Colonels will close out the regular season at Murray State on Saturday at 1 p.m. EKU can secure the No. 3 seed in next week's OVC Tournament with a win. The Racers are in a must-win situation to earn a spot in the tournament.
