Women's Basketball Welcomes Saint Louis To McBrayer Arena For Season Opener Friday Afternoon

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University's women's basketball team will welcome the Billikens of Saint Louis University to McBrayer Arena on Friday.   
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 12 p.m.
 
The game will air live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on on Y 92.5 FM, and can be heard worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The series is tied 1-1 all-time. 
 
-  Last time the two teams faced off, Saint Louis won 78-51.    
 
-  The first meeting between the two teams was in 1993.
 
THE COLONELS
-  The Colonels return four starters off last year's team.  
 
Abby Wright will lead the way for EKU.  She averaged 13.9 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game as a junior. Both were good enough for second on the team last year.
 
Bria Bass appeared in all 27 games last year as a true freshman and started in 25. She finished third on the team in scoring with 10.7 points per game.
 
Shay Solomon will run the offense for the Colonels.  She brings her team-best 3.3 assists per game back this season.
 
-  EKU welcomes five newcomers to the team this year in four freshman and one junior college transfer.
 
-  Junior College transfer Catie Kaifes was a first team all-conference and all-region selection at State Fair Community College.
 
 -  Freshman Hailey McCoy was a first team All-San Diego selection as a senior in high school.
 
-  The Colonels look to remain solid on the boards, as they averaged 38.3 rebounds per game last year. They out rebounded opponents by 3.1 rebounds per game. 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Saint Louis returns six players off last year's team.
 
-  Jordyn Frantz and Kerri McMahan gained preseason All-Atlantic 10 honors.
 
-  SLU welcomes six newcomers to this year's team. The recruiting class ranked 33rd in the country.
 
-  The Billikens ranked 58th in the country in scoring offense a season ago.
 
-  They have made three straight appearances to the WNIT. 
 
-  SLU was good at sharing the ball last year, ranking 34th in the country in assists per game.
 
-  The Billikens did not turn the ball over as they ranked 35th in the county in turnovers.
 
-  Saint Louis was picked to finish seventh in the Atlantic 10 conference.
