Â
Cincinnati quickly went up two points after claiming the doubles point and a point at No. 3 singles. But, Argente found a response, topping Ioana Guna, 6-4, 7-5 in her first match of the season at No. 1 singles.

Lagoda fell in set one at No. 2 singles, 6-7, but came firing back to claim the next two sets handily, 6-3, 6-3, and even the score at 2-2.
Â
The Bearcats took No. 4 and 5 singles back-to-back to win the deciding point, taking the match.
Â
Friess won No. 6 singles in two sets, 7-5, 6-3. Â
Â
"It was a great college tennis match and unfortunate that we ended up on the short end," Head Coach
Rob Oertel stated. "They're a good team. I can't question or doubt any of our girls' effort today. They came prepared very well. The girls who won had exceptional wins today. I'm not happy we lost but we lost to a good team. We played well and that's what college tennis is all about, good competition and good sportsmanship. So it was all positive except we didn't win."
Â
The Colonels fall to 4-3 on the year while Cincinnati improves to 7-3.
Â
Eastern is back in action on Friday as they travel to the University of Louisville in the morning to take on the Cardinals at 10 a.m. and Lexington that night to take on the University of Kentucky at 6 p.m.
