Women's Tennis Triumphs Over SIUE In 7-0 Victory

RICHMOND, Ky. –
The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team triumphed over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Saturday afternoon to remain undefeated in the Ohio Valley Conference at the Greg Adams Tennis Court.
 
Due to a lack of players, EKU started the match 1-0, winning at No. 3 doubles by default.
 
Laura Argente and Raquel Montalvo combined to a win at No. 2 doubles, 6-1 to earn the doubles point.
 
Alexandra Belle and Lisa Friess sealed doubles play with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles over Ann-Christine Link and Raillane Kamdem.
 
Margaux Lacroix collected the point at No 6 singles to open individual play, again on default.
 
Belle shut out her opponent to both of her sets at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0 to finish next.  
 
 Viktorija Demcenkova came out hot against Link collecting a win at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
 
Kristina Lagoda clinched the match with her win at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-3.
 
Argente and Putri Dwinta each collected wins at No. 1 singles and No. 5 singles, respectively.
 
"I'm very proud of the girls today," Head Coach Rob Oertel stated. "We keep improving and preparing for the OVC. I'm excited to see what the next few matches hold for us."
 
After the win, the women move to 9-8 (4-0 OVC), while SIUE falls to 0-14 (0-3 OVC).
                                                                                           
EKU goes on the road to face another OVC rival in Jacksonville State on March 30 at 11 a.m. but will return home on April 13 in a match against Austin Peay State University.
