NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team nearly swept Belmont University Friday afternoon in Nashville, Tennessee, defeating the Bruins 6-1. The men fell to Belmont, 6-1.
The women (11-8, 6-0 OVC) dropped the doubles point to go down 1-0 early.
Alexandra Belle picked up a quick 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles to even the score.
Laura Argente, Kristina Lagoda and Viktorija Demcenkova picked up wins at No. 1, 2 and 3 singles, respectively, to clinch the match.
Lisa Friess and Margaux Lacroix finished off the Bruins (6-13, 2-5 OVC) with victories at No. 5 and 6 as the Colonels completed the singles sweep.
The victory marks the sixth straight for the squad who has yet to be beaten in league action.
Lagoda has won eight matches in a row, while Belle and Demcenkova have each won six straight. Lagoda has won four.

Nicolas Castaldo claimed the lone point for the men at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
Parth Aggarwal fell in set one at No. 2, 6-3, but pulled away with the second set, 6-4. He then fell in the super-tiebreaker, 10-7.
EKU drops to 5-17Â (1-3 OVC) while Belmont improves to 9-10 (2-0 OVC).
Both squads will be back in action tomorrow at Tennessee State. The matches are slated to begin at 4 p.m. ET. There will be a live stream available for the matches.
