EKU Baseball Ready To Host Siena For Four Games

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky will play its first home games of the 2020 season when Siena College visits Earle Combs Stadium for a four-game series this weekend.
 
The schedule has changed.  Friday's series opener will now start at 2 p.m.  The two teams will play a single game on Saturday at noon.  Sunday will feature a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m.  Sunday's first game will air live on ESPN+.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  This will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (4-2) began the season with four straight wins for the first time since 2001, including a 2-0 victory at No. 11 LSU in the series opener on Friday.
 
-  Sophomore shortstop Logan Thomason has a team-best .364 batting average to go along with three runs and four RBIs.  Chris Botsoe leads the team with seven runs scored.  Catcher A.J. Lewis is hitting .348 with a team-high seven RBIs.
 
-  Eastern Kentucky's 2-0 win at No. 11 LSU was the program's fifth victory against a top-30 team in Edwin Thompson's five years as head coach.
 
-  In three games at No. 11 LSU, Eastern's pitchers had a 4.68 ERA and held the Tigers to a .185 batting average.  The Colonels struck out 25 batters in 25 innings.
 
-  Senior lefty Brennan Kelly (0-0, 8.59 ERA) will get the ball in game one.  He's coming off four and one-third innings of one-hit ball at LSU.  Sophomore right-hander Jacob Ferris (0-1, 4.63 ERA) will start game two.  He struck out seven Tigers in seven and two-thirds innings of work at LSU.  Junior left-hander Jake Lewis (1-1, 11.37 ERA) and sophomore righty Julian Jackson (0-0, 4.76 ERA) will start the final two games of the series.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Siena comes into the weekend 0-8 this season.  The Saints opened 2020 with three games at Central Florida.  Last weekend Siena faced South Alabama twice, Tennessee-Martin and Indiana at the South Alabama Invitational.  UT Martin beat the Saints 7-5.  
 
-  Freshman infielder Matt Livingston leads the team with a .444 batting average but has played in just five of the eight games this season.  
 
-  Outfielder Zach Durfee leads Siena with three RBIs and is hitting .227.
 
-  Ben Seiler, a sophomore left-hander, is slated to start game one.  He is 0-2 with an 8.38 ERA.  John Lumpinski (0-2, 20.77 ERA), a freshman right-hander will toe the rubber in game two.  The game three starter will be sophomore lefty Brendan Quigley (0-0, 11.25).  Siena has not announced a starter for the series finale.
